When you feel like you’re trapped in a cage, do one of the things that makes your heart jump. As June it’s a very busy month for me, I thought I should get a break before it actually starts and do one of the things I could never get enough of, traveling.

This time, the destination was 3000 km away from home, somewhere at the shore of the Mediterranean Sea and that it’s called Valencia. Sun, sangria, paella, streetart…what else could you wish for from a 3 days getaway in Spain?

Let the adventure begin!

Ziua 1

Daca ajungeti in Valencia trebuie neaparat sa treceti pe acolo!

Day 1

After about a 3 hours flight, we arrived in Valencia at 9:30 local hour. Right after we touched the ground, we went to the apartment, left the luggage and started the “expedition”. One first awesome thing I have to point out it’s that inside the airport was a metro station that could took you anywhere in the city – a single ticket was 4,90 euros.

Another detail that took my attention from the start was the graffiti, which you could find in every corner of the town. The level of professionalism of the art was incredible, from some actor’s portraits to landscapes. This was the cause we spent the entire day wondering around the old streets admiring the works of art and discovering shops with hand-made products. This way we came across the central plaza, which actually was one of my favourite places there. La Mercat Central it’s like a huge hall which gathers together a food plaza with a great variety of fresh products (vegetables, fruits, fish, seafood), a pastry and a coffee shop. Of course we had to stop there for a fresh and some pain au chocolats. If you go to Valencia don’t forget to visit this place!

At noon, I could not abstain myself so I went to Taco Bell…yuuuuuum, that’s all can I say (if you like mexican food it’s your place to go, plus they have all sorts of great deals). Also in the first day we had a small shopping session and we kinda got lost in El Corte Ingles – if you ever went in Spain you know what I’m talking about, if not, I wish you the best of luck :)). A thing that took you in another dimension were the palm trees, they were everywhereeeee and I could not wait to reach their shadow after hours of walking.

Ziua 2

Day 2

We started the second day with a coffee at The Central Bar, the coffee shop in the central plaza and then we walked to out main attraction of the day – Valencia’s Oceanograph. What you find there it’s hard to put in words, from rare butterflies to giant turtles and sharks that weight hundreds of kg. It’s like an enormous natural reservation where you can see how all these animals live as you were one of them. The most interesting experience was when I entered a huge aquarium through a small tunnel while I was surrounded by water.

Fact: the great majority of the animals held there were saved from their natural environment because they faced difficulties in adapting or they were in danger. The animals are watched everyday by specialists that are doing everything they can to provide the best conditions.

Tip: if you want to go there buy your tickets online to avoid the queue and reserve 4-5 hours to visit.

From the oceanograph we took a walk to the beach and then we stopped to eat a traditional paella at El Rall. On the narrow streets from the old center you can find a lot of traditional restaurants, we found El Rall in a small nice plaza and the food was awesome. Ohh and don’t forget about the sangria, it’s home-made! 🙂 After dinner we walked along Turia Gardens, heaven on earth kind of place, full of flowers and greens that charge you up.

Ziua 3

Day 3

In the third day we took breakfast at Granier, where you can find the best pastry products I tried there. As in the days before, we explored the old town’s streets and then we went for the last shopping session to Nuevo Centro. Before we went at the airport, we took lunch at Fika Cafe, which turned out to be the best meal of the holiday (SHOUTOUT for the best gazpacho soup ever).

Now back to 30 degrees Bucharest…the question is where to next? 🙂
